Modelling the Relationship Between Chinese University Students’ Authentic Language Learning and Their English Self-efficacy During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic demanded pedagogical transformation that could engage Chinese English learners in a technology-mediated authentic language learning environment, which turn challenged to develop both self-directed and collaborative skills order achieve meaningful learning. To understand students’ online learning, this study surveyed 529 university students on their perceptions of (AULL), (SDL), (CL), self-efficacy (ESE) during the period pandemic. validation findings indicated survey possessed satisfactory validity internal consistency. Survey results revealed with technology an course Structural equation modelling (SEM) unveiled interconnected relationships among AULL, SDL, CL, ESE. More importantly, mediating effects SDL CL offered deeper understanding learners’ process. Results can inform educators about importance structuring for face-to-face beyond
